He sent troops to SC to end the nullification issue.
Also, his Indian policies were disgusting.

Sending troops to South Carolina was a good thing. If anything he was too cautious. Hanging Calhoun and the rest of those traitors then and there might have prevented the bloodshed of 1861-1865.
