Gaddafi had a lot of murals and portraits and paintings of himself up around Libya. After the rebellion broke out, many of them were defaced, vandalized and destroyed (anti-Gaddafi graffiti was quite common during the rebellion) and obvious once Tripoli and Sirte fell rebel forces went on a rampage destroying any symbolic propaganda of the regime.

They should just take them down.  Keep a few for a museum at some point in the future.  (Of thsoe that can be taken down).

Others should be painted over.  Then when things settle down they could have people come together and make their own murals.

I agree with Snowguy on this. Some should be kept, though in Libya today the old regime has not been gone for long. The destruction of symbols representing the previous order is still a FP but will not continue to be so years from now, nor would it be a FP to spare none of them from destruction.

Again, both. Like it or not, Qadaffi is a part of Libya just like Lenin statues are in eastern Europe or Robert E. Lee statues are in the south.
