They were controlled by the mob.  Not to mention they endorsed GWB.  The definition of crooks.

don't you mean they endorsed Nixon?

Why would you support a right-wing union...

What is your opinion of the CTM in Mexico?

I wasn't aware that they endorsed Nixon.  I do, however, know that they backed W.

It backed W.  And do you seriously think it was a FU in the 50's?  Not to mention the one Snowstalker mentioned?

"The Teamsters Union is one of the largest labor unions in the world, as well as the 11th largest campaign contributor in the United States. While they supported Republicans Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush for President in the 1980s, they have begun leaning largely toward the Democrats in recent years; they have donated 92% of their $24,418,589 in contributions since 1990 to the Democratic Party. Though the union opposed former President George W. Bush's agenda to open US highways to Mexican truckers, it did previously support Bush's platform for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge."

I honestly can't imagine TNF being an advocate for Christian socially conservative unions- like the SDA in Australia (which is the largest union in Australia!).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shop,_Distributive_and_Allied_Employees_Association

I believe the union has a de-facto policy to not appoint LGBT employees as shop stewards and representatives.

I swear the Teamster's union has mostly endorsed Republicans for the Presidency?

2000 and 2004.  I'd made the point of the 50's, since that was when they were at their worst.  They actually also endorsed Reagan both times.

They endorsed Obama in 2008 and 2012 and endorsed Gephardt in 2004.

They seem pretty Democratic friendly (also a large portion of my family belongs in that union)

I paid my dues and got my union card with the IBT.  They are in no way right wing. These liberal purity litmus tests are silly. They support things like drilling because this means jobs for their members. Would you have a coal miners union be against coal mining.

looks like they got out of pushing for ANWR drilling in 2008.  makes sense as 'social movement unionism' becomes more of a thing.

Unions really have to pick their battles as they've been systematically destroyed over recent decades. Sadly some of the ones with the most power need the bulk of the protections of the unions the least: cops, public employees etc.
From my experience, so many on the so called left, at least  in America, simply do not care about the working class. Many are wrapped up in the more yuppie, distant causes and don't really give a passing thought about how the janitors can live on their wage.

Sadly, this is becoming the case in a lot of the world.
