I think mods probably shouldn't have the ability to infract posts they report to themselves.

That's how Badger got me with 50 infraction points... by picking a random post in his board that I had made, reporting it, and infracting.

And once you are mod reviewed, it cannot be reversed by the mods... so playing fast and loose with that is probably not a good idea.  It engenders resentment and bitterness.
Is there a reason that Badger infracted you? While the manner in which he did it may be unethical, I would hope that our mods have more sense than to abuse power over personal disputes.

In the end, as I have said before (among others I might add), it is Nym, and Nym alone, who makes the decision about punishments. Sure in the interim there is a muting potentially. But he can and does reverse it. All the Mods do is make their cases to him. After a period of time passes, and all the Mods who want to participate, have had a chance to do so, he rules. So the death points, to the extent relevant in and of themselves at all, and putting aside interim mutings, merely are a mechanism to provoke discussion. And sometimes, discussion ensues about posters, without the death point issue. We had one such case recently. We issued a warning, in accordance with Nym's ruling.

I am most impressed by the system actually. I think the checks and balances are excellent. And in my opinion, Nym is a superb judge. I don't know what we would do without him actually. He has made, through his efforts, this Forum a better place. I mean that.

Oddly enough though, while Nym can ban and unban posters, he can't actually take people off mod review.  So once you're on mod review, you're stuck there for five days, regardless of any overruling by Nym.  We've asked Dave to give Nym that power, but he ignores us.

Didn't know that, but particularly where complex or disagreements ensue, the litigation process takes at least that long anyway. Nym wants all Mods to have a chance to participate, and not every Mod is here every day. As to the  Snowguy and Badger thing, we all wanted to reverse it after it was worked out, including Badger, so what you say is well taken of course. We could do nothing I now recall.

My problem is... I'm a bitter old b!tch.  And I hold grudges.  I am aware of this however, and realize it is problematic.  So if I get my noodle in a kaboodle I'd ask you kindly to remind me to let bygones be bygones.

The moderators playing coy about The List is hilarious. Thank goodness the late, great Sam Spade brought it to our knowledge before he was silenced.

RIP SAM SPADE.   Cry

Make it viewable for an annual charge of $50 for each member and revocable with no money back if it's talked about on the forum. Make some money for the site.

I don't remember Sam ever acknowledging a list.  If he did, he lied.

Sam Spade has been unpersoned. The list is a fabrication by unpatriotic elements of our forum. Atlasia has always been at war with Eastasia.

I am sick and tired of all of your lies about JMFCST.

JMCFST is in the cave, and sits at the right hand side of David Leip himself, until the day in which Rochambeau and Hamilton return in the "dark times." Several socks shall rise, and a great battle will occur in the 2020 Presidential Election board. JMFCST will lead our forces to victory, and we shall rejoice in The Cave for a thousand presidential elections! Hallelujah!

the jmfcst should always be preceded by the definite article.  Like, the Christ, or the Buddha.  It's always the jmfcst, never just jmfcst.
