It's kind of a scary thought when you consider the average conservative's only logical line of thought is that Blackwater and Halliburton are on better moral standing and provide more of a needed service and are more worthy of tax money than teachers.

Depends, are these the "What'll you do for an A?" public school teachers, or the "F" public school teachers. Or are these the overweight white woman wearing a floral dress kindergarten teachers?

Public School Teachers.  In my state, they are hardworking and dedicated, in spite of horrible pay.  Obviously, most of them did not enter the profession to become rich.  Horrible teachers exist, but usually they should not be blamed if failing students just have bad parents or if poor funding makes teaching difficult.
