Ernest touched on it, but Trump's tariffs, or rather the retaliation for them, was just a pretext for what HD desperately wanted to do all along, shift production to their overseas plants.

The flip side of that is to say that the previous policy gave the company incentive to keep the jobs in the U.S.

Not to mention that, given all the other material, tangible damage the trade war is causing already in manufacturing plants across the country, the tariffs absolutely can't be ruled out as the dispositive tipping point, without which those plants would remain open for the foreseeable future.

Obama's at it again. Why can't that Kenyan Muslim Communist terrorist ever leave us honest, hard-working Americans alone?

This part is true, though.

Great, Trump said he's gonna bring back jobs. From a European perspective, he may keep his promises! Well done, Sir. Well done.

The jobs aren't being sent to Europe -- they're being sent to Asia where HD already has plants.

More likely Brazil if their plant there has the capacity as that would lower shipping times and costs.

Trump seems to be really triggered by this. Tweeted about it last night and several times this morning.

Hahaha, poor Harley. They're already hurting for money, Trump is gonna put them out of business.

Trump's reaction today gives me some hope he'll eventually cave on tariffs when companies start reporting lost profits and threatening moving production. Its easy enough to ignore soy bean farmers, but say a big company like Volkswagen threatens to fire workers in Tennessee or Toyota has to start cutting shifts in Kentucky.

How many of the employees that will lose their job do you think voted for Trump because they were afraid of foreigners taking their jobs?

I mean, all three have been critical of tariffs ... then again, two of three are Badger and me.

I’m also highly critical about these tariffs.

And now the Big Orange Tang has given his blessing to a Harley-Davidson boycott.

No other U.S. motorcycle manufacturer had anywhere near the level of exports H-D had, so of course they'd cheer something that hurt a competitor worse, assuming it would be short term pain. Besides, even if they do agree with H-D privately, it's to their advantage to let Harley take the heat from Trumbo.

Does that mean his supporters will start smashing their motorcycles?
