New Jerseys 2013 Gubernatorial election is intriguing me due to the fact the Christie is leading big in a Big Dem state.

  I notice a contradiction between statewide and national voting patterns there. I am not sure what Obama voters are going to do in November.

  If you think Obama voters will vote for Christie, then explain in your opinion why. I don't know.

Some will, obviously. The majority won't, but that doesn't matter. Things will narrow from where they are now, but Christie should win by a high-single-digits to low-teens margin.

All of the above. Obama voters like Christie significantly more than they liked Romney, a majority will probably end up voting for Buono, and there will be lower turnout because it's a midterm (not even that, a mid-mid-term).

A lot will, but there's a few Obama voters who will probably vote for Tom Corbett or Rick Scott too. The standards are different for Presidents and Governors.

Why would Obama voters like Christie?

Because he's to the left of Romney and has the added benefit of being sane and competent. Based on the opinion polls, they certainly do like him. Why would Romney voters like Pryor?

Chris Christie took on his own party -- something politicians almost never do -- to go to bat for his state. Major Democrats in the state, like outgoing Sen. Lautenberg, praised him for his work on Hurricane Sandy. He even got to take a victory lap on The Daily Show.

Simply put, Chris Christie is a rockstar in his state. He can win over independent voters in such a strong manner that it seems impossible for Buono to catch up.

Will vote for Buono this year, though. She's hopelessly outgunned but would be a genuinely good governor. While Christie has been a good leader on some issues, he's been pretty bad on others (ARC, gay marriage).

if Buono runs again in 4 years, she probably has my vote again. She gets major points from me for being the only Dem willing to take on Christie this year. Sweeney and others wont get a dime from me.

Christie probably won't win the Obama 2012 vote, but he could make some major inroads, especially since he's currently on his way to a landslide or near-landslide reelection.
