Who would win the Democratic primary if it ends up being a contest between Brian Schweitzer and Andrew Cuomo after Super Tuesday?

Discuss with maps.

I think Schweitzer would dominate the West, Rustbelt and the South, whereas Cuomo would be strongest along the coasts and get both NY and California.

Based on the likely primary schedule, probably not a likely map. Plus, Schweitzer has little appeal with blacks; either Cuomo would win the South or a third person would.

How do you know he has "little appeal" to African-Americans?

It's not like there's that many in Montana.

Indeed. And besides that, what exactly will make Cuomo so acceptable among African-Americans? His ill-fated 2002 gubernatorial primary or his constant bashing and undermining of the state senate Dem leader, who happens to be black?

Bill Clinton's endorsement is how Cuomo does well with blacks.

I think Cuomo would win, but Schweitzers one of the few people who will really get Dem's excited enough to throw Cuomo overboard. Most of the others, particularly O'Malley, would sink probably due to a massive warchest.

So far no one has made a map of this scenario. Anybody care to try?

You're joking, right?

And even if Clinton endorses Cuomo (which is far from certain), I'm dubious that Obama and his organisation will prefer him over somebody who was not afraid to be a speaker in both DNCs and actively supported him and other Democrats.

Schweitzer camps out in Iowa and pulls of a win.
Cuomo counters with a convincing win in New Hampshire.
He then narrowly edges Schweitzer in South Carolina by splitting the white vote but carrying a slight majority of black voters with Clinton's help.
With Union support, Schweitzer takes Michigan.
Cuomo comes back in Florida.
The nomination is decided in May when Schweitzer takes Oregon and Kentucky. He chooses either a female, Midwesterner or Cuomo as his VP.
Schweitzer does best among young voters, liberals, white voters, blue collar voters, men and rural voters. Cuomo is best among business types, white collar voters, moderates and centrists, women, and urban voters.

You say Schweitzer takes Oregon and Kentucky, but you have Oregon for Cuomo on that map.

Quick question, forgive me I'm still new here, but how do you make the mock maps and post em in the forums? I'll do one too..

As to the question.. assuming it is a pure 1v1 race, I'll take Cuomo only because he will have a lot more money and win the "big" delegate states, even though Schweitzer is a much better candidate.. and yes it will come down to how the hispanics and african americans break.

I think Schweitzer wins white males, Cuomo may win white females.  Cuomo is another corporate Dem but the primary electorate won't care cause they want another suave northerner
