It's called "movevember"

And I will be shaving my goatee except for my mustache, and will continue to do so for the month. But I will not be collecting money for prostate cancer.

God no. I need to feel smooth. Need!

I would consider, someday, getting my head shaved for charity. Certainly not in the near future. My hair goes down to the middle of my back, and I reckon I could raise some good money were I to chop it off.

I'm not sure of the date, but it's got to be getting close to a decade since a razor has touched my body.  Shaving is for chumps.

It's called Movember.

Also, I don't shave anyway, so it's a moot point.

What has cancer to do with moustaches? What's fInking wrong with today's humanity?

To answer your first question, mustaches are a symbol of masculinity that is meant to correlate with specifically male cancers. It is also on the whole a norm in Western countries to shave off facial hair. So letting it grow all month when you usually wouldn't might make people question what you're doing and thus raise awareness of man cancers (from now on known as "mancers").

To answer your second question - quite a lot. Individualism has led to a belief that "humanity" is a farcical notion. Your own ego is unique and, to you, supreme, and everything in each person's world revolves around his or her own happiness. This has led to a general decline in people looking out for each other and society and the rise in inequality written off as the wealthy being "better" than others.

To me it boils down to the opposing notion that individuality is only true on rather superficial levels. Instead, at a fundamental level, consciousness and self-awareness unites humanity into a larger body that is capable of things far greater than a single person. I know, I know, what does that have to do with mustaches? Thank you for asking. The answer is this: most males can grow a mustache. It shows that although society tends to view us as singular entities capable of limited things, males as a group are united in their unique abilities to grow hair underneath their noses. It is so much more than just awareness of dick tumours - it is a revolution in scrotal cooperation!

Since my current beard is almost 30 years old, I will not shave this month, but I will keep it trimmed. NB, my mustache is only 4 1/2 years old since I shaved it last in honor of Lincoln's 200 birthday.

No I'm not participating.  I keep the goatee well trimmed and the rest of my face smooth....except on weekends.

No [not a tool]

Any facial hair I have is a result of complete laziness and lack of time.

I tried doing Movember two years ago, and raised exactly $9.  Nobody knew what the hell Movember was, despite my explanations, and frankly I got sick of people asking if I was doing 'No Shave November'.

Does this rule out shaving entirely or merely require some amount of facial hair? It's cold enough that I might grow a beard again (particularly since I shave my head and am thus regularly very cold) but I don't want to end up looking like a homeless person.

I normally go for days without shaving, but that's out of laziness and lack of time.  The beard itches too much, so I know I can't last 30 full days.  That would make for a miserable Thanksgiving.

No.

We already devoted one month of the year to breast cancer and all it has done is overallocate resources to that disease when there are other things killing women that have fewer treatment options (not to mention waste untold amounts of money on the charity-industrial complex's marketing and overhead expenses).

Now we get to raise awareness for one of the least deadly cancers out there - prostate cancer. But stores can sell a bunch of crap with little mustaches on it and guys can post Facebook selfies of their manly manly mustaches. Terrific job, America. I hope you get prostate cancer and don't die.

I'm probably not going to shave this month, but that's true of most months.

Whoa. Dude. There are people I know, good people, that participated in No Shave November. I don't want them to get cancer, and I assuredly don't desire their deaths. You are a sick, sick individual, young man.
