Where would you go? Assuming no problem with immigration.
Americans who currently live in the US only.

Torn between New Zealand and Australia.  My sister is living in Cairns (or rather, a northern beach suburb), so I might lean in that direction.

Not satisfying the "live in the US requirement", I didn't vote in the poll.

Answer is Germany, although being a dual citizen makes that choice unfair.

So actual answer outside of my home countries: Netherlands. Switzerland or Austria perhaps, but they're similar enough to Germany that it wouldn't be entirely fair.

Never been there, but New Zealand sounds lovely. Beautiful scenery and super far away from the troubles of the rest of the world. I love vacationing in Canada, but the winters are probably a bit much.

I'm already trying to force my own exile to Ireland, so that's the easy choice. Other than that, it'd have to be either Austria or Portugal.

Canada would be my first choice, but I would gladly give New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and the United Kingdom consideration. The number of convenient options available are somewhat limited for me since I do not speak any other languages; otherwise I imagine there would be dozens of lovely countries from among which to choose.

Switzerland or Germany. Granted I don't speak German, but that can be rectified. Smiley

Canada; second and third choices would be Japan and Ireland. In all cases, fondness for the culture/land/people and some extent of preexisting personal ties.

Actually you could move Germany and Belgium way up if money were no object..

If I had to live outside France, I'd go to Italy, for obvious reasons.

The Eastern Mediterranean would be good, as far as I'm concerned, but probably not right now. South-East Asia would be okay for an exile as well, I imagine.

Considering how much you complain about weather, I don't think you would like it.

Locking this poll. I am surprised Australia scores that low. It would seem such an obvious choice. Good climate, strong economy, same language, cultural similarities. Do you fear the seppo stigma?
Also a little surprised by 1/6 preferring a country in continental Europe, but I guess many liberals and people with family ties to Europe explains that.

My own personal hitlist if I couldn't stay in Denmark would be:

1. Australia
2. New Zealand
3. Canada
4. Norway
5. Iceland

I can deal with rain. It's excessive heat or cold that's problematic.
