I imagine a Gingrich Presidency would turn out much like Nixon's did, too. Maybe even with a tawdry sex scandal in addition to the ethical misadventures.

Yeah, Gingrich is excrement and an example of the very worst sort of career politician. But so was Nixon, and you elected him twice.
