What's stupid about the idea? I'm sure the Burmese people would appreciate living in a democratic country for once.

But shouldn't they form their own democratic country? Burma doesn't have much in common with India.

Yeah once again this has nothing to do with changing governments.

That would be an even better idea. But if the author of this thread meant "get rid of" entirely, then Burma would have to be united with another country. Then again, maybe Thailand would be a better unification choice.

I think BRTD meant what countries shouldn't exist. So North Korea would be a good example since it's basically the same culture/people as South Korea but ruled by a crazy communist government. Then there's a place like Burma or Saudi Arabia where you might want a change in the government but it doesn't make sense to merge it into some other nation. Those countries shouldn't make the list.

North Korea united with South Korea
Kosovo united with Albania
Cyprus split up, Turkish side becoming Turkish, Greek side becoming Greek
Vatican City becomes part of Italy

These European countries or city-states could be absorbed into the larger country that surrounds them
Vatican City
Liechtenstein
Malta
Monaco

Malta doesn't make much sense, the only country they could merge with would be Italy, and with the exception of their religion they have very little in common with them, not even speaking the same language.

Allright. If that was the criteria, then I'd say:

North Korea (reunite with South Korea)
Kosovo (unite with Albania)
Taiwan (unite with China)
Montenegro (reunite with Serbia)
Iraq (divide into three parts)

As a side note, I think all Arab League nations with the possible exceptions of Iraq, Somalia, and Sudan should be unified to create a single nation. I think there are too many of them, though.

Maltese rightie households should be annexed by Italy, Maltese leftie households should be annexed by Libya.

At least, that's the second best solution, with the status quo being best.

And I'm not talking about government change. There's no reason to eliminate the states of Cuba and Iran (or DR Congo). You might prefer they have a different government of course, but that's completely different.

BRTD, it's really immature of you to hate Croatia, Hungary, and Ireland for their past. If you're going to do that, you might as well hate Germany, Italy, Russia, and Japan as well, since their past is much worse than that of Croatia, Hungary, and Ireland.

Uh my point with Hungary has nothing to do with their past and everything to do with the fascist government they just elected. Croatia still embraces its fascist past proudly unlike the other countries you mentioned. Ireland has more to do with particularly obnoxious Irish-Americans than anything else.

How exactly is the current Hungarian govt. fascist? And obviously there are a lot of morons in Croatia, just like in other countries, but I seriously doubt that most people there or the Croatian govt. embraces Croatia's fascist past. And you would hate Ireland just because the people of Irish descent you meet in the U.S. are obnoxious? That's really immature. And out of curiosity, which other countries do you hate (besides Israel)?
