New thread with a poll  for viewers.

How will it do in ratings?  Will this decision by CNN be looked back upon as a positive financial decision for the owners ... even if it's questionable journalism?  I mean, the National Enquirer sells, right?

Voice yer opinions!

(I guess Kathleen Parker is going to be on the show as well?  You can use that in your opinions too.  The best suggestion I've heard is for them to just use the old name "Crossfire")

It will do as well as all their other 8 PM shows. Which is to say very poorly. CNN will continue to be a distant 3rd in this time slot. Conservative don't want to watch Spitzer and Liberals don't want to watch Parker.

Fail.  CNN is trying to do a news version of ESPN's Pardon the Interruption when they clearly should have done a news version of ESPN's Around the Horn.

Maybe CNN has become like the Imperial Japanese Army during WW2 -- we've tried everything else against you, now we're just going to go kamikaze and blow everything up and hope we end up on top

Kathleen Parker (high priestess of the cult of the male sex drive) on against Elliot Spitzer (who has an overactive male sex drive)?

Anyone want to take bets on how long it is before they're f**king?

I'm sure Spitzer's wife has told him "If you ever touch another woman I'll take you for everything you've got"

So I'm saying no to the f**king

Kathleen Parker has built her entire career off of attacking the feminist movement for trying to kill the glorious, powerful, manly male sex drive.  Roll Eyes  Someone like Spitzer is right up her alley.  (Frankly, they deserve each other)

I think the selections were kinda lame.

Now, if it were a four person panel of Rod Blagojevich, Sarah Palin, Jesse Ventura, and Ralph Nader moderated by Lewis Black?  I'd watch that show every night (as would most if not all of America)

Actually forget Lewis Black, that British guy they just hired would add more pizzaz.

Um.... you think Kathleen Parker would, uh, be into asphyxiation?

No. Nobody watches CNN and things aren't going to change just because one crooked politician moved from the State to the State media.

If she were on the receiving end, yes.  It would be a highly erotic act putting her back in her place as the submissive secondary partner.  I mean, this woman described rape in the military thusly:

I wish David Vitter weren't such a safe bet for reelection this year. If he lost he would have been perfect to match with Elliot.

Yeah the smart voice in my head says to say no further comment about that stuff Micky.

No. Nobody watches CNN and things aren't going to change just because one crooked politician moved from the State to the State media.

Is he going to quit writing for Slate?

I watched Eliot debate Greenwald
, filling in for what's-his-face over on MSNBC, but this show is really hard for me to envision in my head.

What's also kind of funny about this whole episode is that David Paterson (whom I genuinely respect for his hard line on borrowing as well as his amazing self-deprecating sense of humor at times), probably will end up with his own radio show too after he's done, which reflects both the fact that he's less popular than Eliot and that he's obviously much more comfortable with the radio format.

Larry Craig is still available.

Both of them would be horrible debating partners.  Craig, in particular, could not go toe-to-toe with Eliot as he doesn't have the ego and is sill in denial.
