FF because I think he means well, but I will not be voting for him in next November's elections, mainly because of his actions regarding the ACA. That, and the fact that he's a Republican, and I vowed never to vote Republican last October.

I love how people are voting FF just because he's less flagrantly awful than most other Republicans.

Some of us aren't hacks, you see Tongue

Glad not everyone is a hack like that. Any Republican who believes the Earth is older than 6,000 years should be commended.

Doesn't Haslam also support gun control?  A Republican Governor of Tennessee who supports that (gun control) should certainly be commended.

Would be news to me. But even if you find an individual issue like that, I don't quite see why he would be better than a Democrat for those causes.

Actually, Haslam may well have been to the left of his Democratic opponent, Mike McWherter.  McWherter supported teaching intelligent design in science classes alongside evolution and wanted to ban unmarried couples from adopting children.  McWherter also claimed that children were better off being raised by foster families than same-sex couples.  Btw TNF, McWherter supported right to low wages legislation and wanted to abolish TN's income tax.  In fact, I'm pretty sure the McWherter was the more conservative candidate.

Ugh, now I know why I was right not to support him. Tongue

Anyway, Bill Haslam is most certainly not pro-gun control, and I don't know what gave you that impression. The General Assembly has been going crazy with pro-gun legislation, and I don't recall him saying a word against it. In fact, Haslam lost my support in the 2010 election when he said he'd sign a bill abolishing the requirement of a handgun permit if the legislature passed such a bill. To be fair, though he did say he favored the then-status quo on gun regulation.
