Imagine telling someone in 2004 that the Republican candidate will carry both Florida and Ohio but lose the election.

And the guy who didn't win FL/OH got over 300 electoral votes.

It's kind of a relief reading through that fat chick Murphy's tweeter feed, and realizing she doesn't appear to a diehard Trumpist ideologue.

But rather a technocrat.

Yeah not sure that helps with the fact that she's not doing her damn job and thus putting the country at risk to placate a spoiled brat.

I trust her.

She's just waiting for official word.

official word?  it's her decision.  She doesn't need Trump to get over his feelings.  She could release the funds now.  The networks have called it.

Looking at the 3 closest states is arbitrary.  The tipping point state both times was Wisconsin and it was around the same margin both times.

The electoral college obviously gives Republicans an advantage but it only goes so far.  Biden had a lot more electoral votes locked up so he could just focus on picking off a few Trump states.

I wouldn't feel all that comfortable if I were Republicans heading into 2024.  There aren't that many states that were very close that are also trending Republican generally.  Of the states that were within a point or less, arguably Wisconsin is trending Republican.  Pennsylvania is probably a wash.  Georgia and Arizona are both clearly trending Democratic.

Virginia gets certified today but some jurisdictions are still not >99% like Fairfax county, Arlington, Alexandria, Norfolk city are in 90%. Does anyone know why counting is slow? Where are the updated figures?

Anecdotal but when I voted early in Fairfax county there were a lot of voters who requested absentee ballots, didn't bring their ballot and tried to vote early.  Given that most people here voted early there were probably a lot of these issues.  Not sure if they got some kind of provisional and that's what's being sorted out.  But given that we don't have much experience with early voting it's probably taking them a long time.

Anyways, if that's the case I'd expect Biden's win margin to go up higher in places like Fairfax County where it was 50/50 in Election Day voting but more like 80/20 for Biden in early voting.  Currently Biden is at 70.4%.

"Many" have been unsuccessful? Can anyone name a single one that hasn't flopped like a lead balloon?

Unless I'm wrong, they should quit using weasel words and accurately report "none" have succeeded thus far.

he won one case on monitoring counting.  nothing to do with vote totals just accessibility to the process.

I didn't vote for him, but Raffensperger has been a FF in this election.

Biden DOJ needs to investigate what Lady G did here.

Are there any estimates out there for how many ballots are left, and what things will look like once everything is counted, and when that is to be expected? Any good websites that track all this?

Sorry if it's been asked/discussed before, it's hard to keep track of this thread Smiley

This map shows what percent of the vote is left in each state:

Trump could threaten majority republican state legislator members in states like Pa, Ga, and others(I am not sure about the make up of Wi and mi?)with being voted out of office if they don't vote for a pro-Trump Electoral college slate. Trump has 95% favorability ratings within the republican base and could make a lot of republicans not want to refuse him.

I call bs on such but the party seems to be attached at his butt currently and that is kind of sad. So what do you think of the possibility?

The fact that you have to ask is pretty revealing.  You don't think highly of your own party.

The lawsuits are getting ridiculous.  The judges need to start sanctioning the parties and lawyers for bringing this nonsense to the court.  why aren't they?

Sounds like a compromise, which is guess is good.

Sounds like it got a little more press attention than the 2 miscreants who did this wanted.

He still doesn't know I guess. 🤭

I'd be more enraged if it weren't so hilarious seeing him have a mental breakdown for all the world to see.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd say that last hour and a half was more than enough stress for the week.

what was stressful?

The idea of Wayne County not getting certified.

While I had faith that the state board would do the right thing and certify, it's not an outlandish thought to think otherwise. If the state board's two republican members did not certify, the process would get incredibly muddled and we could have been looking at weeks of litigation.

If you are worried in any way that Joe Biden will not be sworn in in January, don't worry.  This is all a clown show.  They have no power to do anything.  The courts have all signaled they aren't going to do anything.  The legislatures have all signaled they aren't going to do anything.  If something was going to change the result you'd know about it by now.  The best he has is a few recounts in a few states that won't change anything.

I do hope though, that New York prosecutors remember this fiasco when they decided whether or not to charge Trump.  He needs to be held accountable for his abuse of our country.

The Republican Party has shown it's true colors. Disgraceful.

I'LL NEVER VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN IN MY LIFE!

I am close to this point.  The current Republican Party is garbage.  But I think once all of these freaks are purged by voters or retire, perhaps a new party will form.  It's not healthy to have one dominant party.

Wow, Joe Biden's lead in Pennsylvania is now 82,000 and he's over 50%.

Right now the popular vote is essentially tied WITHOUT New York or California included.

With so many uncounted ballots in blue states it's likely that Biden won the popular vote without either of those states.  I'm wondering if it's possible Biden won the popular vote without NY, CA or IL included.

These statements are silly. We're the United States of America. Where Biden gets his huge PV margin from doesn't matter. It would be like saying take away all of Trump's EV wins in Texas, Florida, and Ohio and he'd be a huge loser.

no it's not at all silly because it shows how out of whack the electoral college has become.  It's also not silly because states have literally been divided in the past to change the senate/EC makeup for this very reason.  it's only "silly" if you just blindly look at electoral results without the context.  hope that better informs you.

The blue spots on that map represent major economic hubs.  The red expanse is mostly decaying parts of the country living off the grift while unironically deriding socialism.

I agree the electoral college is trash. But Biden's margins should be respected, he was a huge popular vote winner. If Trump had the same PV win he would never shut up about it, never.

THAT WAS MY ENTIRE POINT!  Even if you took away Biden's 2 or 3 biggest states he STILL wins the popular vote...

So Biden might win 5 states by 1 million or more

California
New York
Illinois (maybe?)
Massachusetts
Maryland (maybe?)

Trump's best state looks like Tennessee at 700k or so.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think they were contacted by people connected to Trump, hence the Trump lawyers issuing the affidavits.

We are long past the point where these dirtbags need to start being arrested.  Democrats need to grow a pair.
