Why don't dems do what Republicans do with Austin in TX?  just have a ton of districts that stretch out from Chicago, which are 55-45 Dem?

New York, you gonna let Illinois rub your nose in how useless you are? Get to it.

The most useless one by far though is California.  If they didn't have a commission they could really do massive damage to the GOP.  And not just that, they've got a lot of horrendous GOP members of congress there like McCarthy, Nunes, Issa, etc.

So how many seats could Dems realistically gain with some of those maps above?  I am assuming 17-0 is near impossible.

Yeah but the commission is d biased

How biased?  I feel like any commission that is even slightly D biased would destroy McCarthy and Nunes's districts.

Since everyone keeps drawing 14-3 gerrymanders, I guess it's safe to assume there is no practical way to draw a 15-2 gerrymander?

Here's my attempt to create a GOP Gerrymander for IL. Trump won 9 seats and Biden 8 seats. Most of the R seats are still close and could be come a very bad dummymander in a blue leaning year.

Artful.  Illinois looks like a Ribeye.

SMH My Head...

Why do Illinois Democrats keep unilaterally disarming? It's this or nothing:

Image Link

/s obviously (somewhat)

Irrational leftist: "It's because Dems are geographically concentrated in big cities and suburbs and you can't just split them up!"

Republicans: "*split the sh** out of Austin, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Raleigh, Charlotte, Salt Lake City*

I guess city splitting is only OK when the GOP does it to make city voters irrelevant.
