it can only hurt trump.  if the market goes down that's not good.  that's pretty much the only thing trump has going for him.

Coronavirus has neutralized Trump's only strength (stock market/economy).  This has been a horrible 2 weeks for Trump.  Stock market collapsing and it looks like he will get the most formidable democratic opponent in the field.  Plus Bloomberg really is continuing to fund Democrats.  Worst case scenario for Trump.

He has an opportunity to actually look Presidential for once, but he's already failing.

1) He started off by pretending this was no big deal.  Those clips are going to haunt him.

2) I don't think any of us know if the administration as a whole has been incompetent in terms of testing kits and response, etc., but he hasn't looked serious enough about it.  He basically deferred this to Pence.  That doesn't look like leadership.

3) This is yet one more instance where he seems to focus on punishing Europe, our greatest allies, above all else.  No travel to the US from Europe for 30 days?  That's ridiculous.  There's already over 1,000 cases here.

4) Whether he is blamed or not, this is tanking the economy, which was his one good talking point.  Sure he's not really to blame for that, but it's definitely hurting his re-election chances profoundly.

Possible. Unless there is a big-time, Hurricane-Katrina style mess, these natural crises often help the sitting President. It gives him a reason to appear on TV, answer questions, flex his authority and desire to help people, and just basically show off his presidential-ness.

The predictions in the early pages of this thread are HILARIOUS. I know hindsight is 20/20, but imagine thinking that any serious crisis could ever make Trump look presidential. He's made a complete fool of himself and spouted lies every time he opens his mouth on this issue, as usual.

yeah, when times are good people are willing to take a chance on a reality show moron, but now his complete ineptitude is on full display.
