Military is saying the country is now being governed by a Peace Council, which will respect the civil rights and liberties of all regardless of religion, with a quick return to democracy and that Erdogan was an enemy of democracy.

All alliances and treaties will be upheld, according to the Peace Council (aka military rulers).

I hope Erdogan is permanently ousted and that Turkey returns to being a secular, pro-sanity state.

Does this imply Turkey was ever a "pro-sanity" state.

Seriously people if it's secularists behind this then the only people that will be bolstered is Isis, when the military decide to declare full on war with the Kurds and cause the whole area to implode. As it is it's likely Gulenists, so, err.

The military OPPOSES the current Kurdish war.

The military thinks Erdogan has been too soft on ISIS.

It's not a coup anymore. The military had control, but a popular uprising has broken it.

This is now a civil war. Let's hope it's over in hours instead of weeks/months/years/decades.

Ironic that, if Erdogan survives, it will be because of  the social media he has tried so long to censor and oppress.

If the rest of the military realizes it, and sees this as their last chance, could it turn the tide?
