So does anybody think Giuliani's kind of awful right now?

No... his possition is complex and it is hard to explain in a soundbite... I wish we had more people on the right side who were that way.

Yeah, it is complex, but the thing is, it's not going to be what a lot of the people in that crowd will want to hear. Whether you or I or anyone else likes it or not, that will hurt him.

Well, I would rather him go down like that.  I think people will respect him for saying what he thinks, at least... Brownback, surprisingly, kinda came to Rudy's rescue.

And I agree... this debate is just bad for McCain.

I'm only somewhat paying attention, and I missed this. What happened?

He basically said that abortion is not the only issue we shoudl consider in a candidate, esspecially if you have 80% of all other possitions in common.

Romney is so fake that he makes McCain look like a man of principle.

Paul flubbed his last question... not that it really matters.

Paul is more a curiosity than anything, kinda like Kucinich in 04

When did I miss the part when McCain was pro-government funding of embyonic stem cell research? That sort of surprised me. Did that just pass me by?

He is for it today.  Tomorrow....

Giuliani and McCain smacked down everyone on stem cells. Good for them.

I wonder why they even bothered to ask Paul that one.

People have a hard time wrapping thier brains around the idea of a person who is genuinely opposed to a proactive stance of any kind.

Who the f*** asked the question on the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite. Props to Giuliani for knowing history but doesn't Politico.com screen questions?

As I just pointed out, I bet he is the only one on stage who knew the answer.  I am sure that the question was meant to see if the Republicans apprieciate the complexities of the situation.  Rudy ing hit it out of the park, even though it will probably be lost on most.

Funny thing, you know what Rudy hasn't mentioned once yet, inspite of expectations?

9/11

Romney just did though

So Paul does think government has a purpose.

"To defend the privacy of the individual"

Should we give him a cookie for that?

Well, seeing as Rudy was acctually there and it is considered the "defining" point of his leadership by most... and we have a President who wasn't there who hasn't shut up abotu it for 6 years... and Romney used it to get cheap political points already...

yes

I'm ready to declare a win on behalf of Rudy.  Of the big three he was certainly the best.  He didn't waver on his record.  He didn't pander.  He wasn't as clear as he could have been, because he kept getting cut off by time restrictions, but at least that shows people that he has more to say.

Thompson did fairly well in the bottom teir.

So when do the democrats stand in front of Brit Hume?  Tongue

Chris Matthews voted for Bush twice. Nice try though.

So did I... doesn't mean I don't wish there had been a better option.
