I think long-term committed relationships are very necessary for society. But I don't care if you call it "marriage" or "partnership" or "civil union" or just "long-term relationship" (I kinda like the French term, "civil solidarity pact", myself), or if it's between a man and a woman or a woman and a woman or two men and one woman or four women or whatever, or if the people involved sleep only with each other or with other people too or are asexual and don't have sex as a part of their relationship.

Though my polyamorous friends say it gets extremely complicated to maintain anything long-term with more than three people.
