You don't have to love your country to be the successful leader of a group of nationalists. You just have to hate your group's enemies or at least act like you hate them

It's not an act. Trump has been publicly concerned about the status of the US vis a vis the rest of the world for decades.

Why would anyone hate their group's enemies if they didn't love their own group?  That doesn't make sense.
