After the blowout in Tennessee, I don't see why Bentsen would fare much better.

I'll guess Hutchison manages a narrow win after being underestimated.

Hutchinson would not have run if Bentsen was running for re-election.  A weaker Republican would have been nominated.  Bentsen had significant committee assignments that were important to the Texas Business Community, and Bentsen enjoyed significant business support in Texas.
