Overrated, corrupt, and with a godawful foreign policy that makes Mexico look positively sane.

Being better than Bolsonaro is such a low bar to clear that I don't think he deserves much praise for it, much as it was a relief that he did vanquish the man.

He's also shilling yet again for Maduro and the Venezuelan regime, stating just today that the Venezuelan "election" will have observers to vouch for its legitimacy, equating the Venezuelan opposition's complaints to Bolsonaro's election denialism, and stating something along the lines that Maria Corina Machado, the opposition candidate unfairly disqualified by the regime, should "stop crying" and seek a replacement.

Even by the (low) standards of much of the Latin American left when dealing with Maduro, Lula in this term has managed to be almost absurdly obsequious to that regime.
