On the presidential level it seems to be New York as the Democratic candidate has always gotten a higher percentage there than in California for a long time. The last Democratic presidential candidate who fared better in the Golden State than in the Empire State was ... lol ... you won't believe me. Cheesy

On the state level, however, the Republicans still have quite a big say in New York.
