Yes, the South is so unique that our fellow southerner conservatives vote in elections for carpetbaggers like this (write-in):

This region is the laughingstock. We can change things a bit or remain the same, it will the people's choice.

How is Pingvin a carpetbagger? He's Russian and has been registered in the IDS ever since he joined the game.

The Oxford dictionary says that carpetbagger means "a political candidate who seeks election in an area where they have no local connections". Ok, the guy has been registered since he joined the game, like me on the other hand. However, he's not taking part in the political debate, so his current connections are weak, and in addition has some weird political views, as my pic illustrates. I wonder why Feds can't put a better candidate in the ground and why many Feds and SJoyce support someone like him.  Also, I think that we can use carpetbagger in another meaning, as a synonymous of "political adventurer" ("aventurero político" is an usual translation of the word in English-Spanish dictionaries) and, alas, Zhirinovski fits in that description.

You're aware that under your own interpretation of the term "carpetbagger" you are at least as much of a carpetbagger as Pingvin? And that basically all Atlasians who don't have an American background are "carpetbaggers" as well? Moreover, whenever you vote for someone who doesn't have direct connections to the Atlasian state they are registered in, you vote for a "carpetbagger".

Why did you vote for Hashemite and Alfred Jones, then? They don't have direct local connections to the Atlasian state they are registered in, either.

No, because I'm taking part in the South's politics, this is my connection with the region, and I'm not an adventurer. Hash has approximately the same or even more connections like me, he lives in Ottawa and I live in some remote islands of which nobody has heard anything about in Oklahoma or Arkansas. I don't know where Alfred Jones lives, NY perhaps? That place has more connections with the region than my homeplace. I voted according to my conscience and gave Hash the first preference because he's a valuable legislator, as his procedural bill proves, and because I was aware of that weird write-in underground campaign for Pingvin. Come on, put some decent cadidate on the ground and take care of campaigning or at least look at the rest of us to the eye.

Labor has suffered worse attacks than mine. Actually, endorsing hard right candidates is an issue that should worry people with common sense in the right. Don't be a winger Wink

I just said that Pingvin has "weird political views" and something about "hard right" and, well, that pic of Zhirinovski and the silly discussion with ZuWo on the word "carpetbagger" Grin Let's say that the kid is "hardcore". Actually, my major critique is towards whom they support a candidate with these characteristics. If I recall well, he had a high dignity in the past and it was a disaster. On the other hand I always keep in mind that this is just a game, but perhaps it would be better acting in a somewhat serious fashion in order that it works.

My personal preference is New Orleans, though Atlanta might be well. Memphis and Charleston have a rather eccentric location in the region. As for the name, I've stated my choice several times: the South. Do you have ideas to replace 'Emperor' with something or should we come back to 'Governor' by default?
