What Gives You Away as Being "Low Class"

I have a nasty habit (which fortunately I've managed to mostly stifle) of wiping my hands on my pants when it's something small.  I somehow think that Mr. Winston Kensingtonworth III, Esq. would probably not approve of such behavior.

Not to be flippant, but I've always thought this was more of an east coast thing.  I don't notice much of this sort of thing going on.

Obviously, the west coast has no such thing as "low class" people.  We are all jolly old Englishmen in top hats and silk suits.

I can't think of anything.  Maybe in the North yankees might take my accent the wrong way.  It's not as if I use incorrect grammar or anything, however.

Given that your name is "Preston Caldwell", I'd say it's probably the case that nothing gives you away as low class because you aren't low class.

On the other hand. One thing that I consider bad behaviour is eating with your elbows on the table and with the fork in your right hand. I wouldn't call it low class, just not having been raised properly.

Elbows on the table, maybe, but trifling with which hand the fork is held in?  Come on.

If there's one thing in life I hate, it's "etiquette", by which I mean completely and utterly arbitrary rules and regulations about how someone ought to behave with absolutely no tangible and objective benefit whatsoever.  I honestly don't care how utensils are laid out and which is used for what and which hand they're held in as long as they work, nor do I see why anyone would.

If this makes me not raised "properly", then the standards ought to be changed, not the people.

Out of morbid curiosity, how do you loose them that fast?  I mean if all you did was brush them twice a day, they'd probably last a while.  Do you guys purposely do things that ruin them-eat rocks or open beer bottles with them or...?

As for meth, WalterMitty, that may be a reasonable point, but keep in mind that its use is caused by poverty and oppression.

really, I heard meth was used across the board-well maybe not the richest, but plenty of middle class (and yes, a middle class does exist) soccer moms that want to escape the insipidness of suburban living and such...
