I'd consider it a battleground state, along the same lines as Michigan or Pennsylvania- on paper, they look competitive or even like tossups, but they virtually always side with one particular party. I think the dems will continue to spend resources to try to win Missouri, but absent a major, unexpected demographic shift Missouri will probably vote Republican in the next few elections (barring a landslide for democrats).
