Looks like equality is on the march in Atlasia!

Actually, it looks more like the amount of control we give the Federal Government is on the march in Atlasia.

Are we reading different amendments?

Emphasis mine. It seems to be a prohibition on government actions and does not regulate private conduct.

President Napoleon,

You tried to say that about my regional rights argument and now you attack Hagrid's point as being nothing more than a strawman argument. The left here just thinks it can bully us conservatives into acquiescing to laws that most everyday Atlasians would think nonsensical. This amendment if passed gives the national government powers it is not worthy of. If a region wants to say....ban gay marriage, it should maintain that right. As I've said this amendment violates regional rights and thus it must fall back to the ash heap of ludicrous ideas.

You call yourself a libertarian and then turn around and openly state that regions have the right to ban gay marriage? That's the most un-libertarian thing I've ever heard! Supporting the right of certain people to take away my rights but not others isn't libertarian at all.

Though if Shua is correct and the ERA would apply to private-sector actions, then I'm afraid I must oppose it, it being far further-reaching than I originally perceived it to be.

I think President Napoleon is perfectly aware of the legislation currently debated, and doesn't give a crap about the mindless paranoid ramblings of an obtuse reactionary theocrat.

My words are not mindless ramblings. Obtuse means fat. I'm within the proper weight of one of by height and build. If you want to talk reactionary theocrats look at Iran or the Taliban not at a Christian Conservative trying to preserve the values America/Atlasia were founded on. This will be repealed.

I think he was using obtuse to mean dull or slow to understand.

Tell me, how is making laws based on Christianity any different from Sharia law?

There are drastic differences between Christian principals and Sharia. Christianity applied rightly led to so many positive progressions in the human experience. Sharia has not.

Forget math. He has displayed poor grammar, ignorance of history and inability to understand science. My guess is either home schooling or some creepy evangelical school.

FTR, my statement wasn't a personal attack per se (or at least not to the caliber of Napoleon's), more of a statement that while there have been great inventions by people who followed Christian principles (example: Christian friar Gregor Mendel), but to say that Islamic principles haven't led to anything great is clearly false (the aforementioned al-Jebr).
