Huzzah. BRTD's quarter annual Irish Republican baiting post. I'm glad I didn't miss this one as I haven't been around for a while.
Sands and many nationalists were ill treated by the political hierarchy and power structure at for centuries in Ulster, he rebelled, joined a violent organization that for better or worse sought to correct those wrongs, was imprisoned under a special magistrate trial (no jury, special powers act etc) and locked up. He tried to get political status for his comrades, starved himself for that to no avail and died.
Stoners' ilk were borne from a system which had a police force who beat the crap out of non violent civil rights marchers' in Derry and Burntollet. For centuries the Protestant ascendancy had kept the Catholic population out of the best jobs (Harland and Wolff shipyards were exclusionary or the highest levels of the once lucrative linen trade) Throughout "the Troubles" Gov't forces gladly colluded with UVF, UDA representatives to assassinate members of the nationalist community both nonviolent and violent. A large reason the Provo's were born as a reaction because the non violent movements like NICRA had failed and were beaten or shot down. The Provisional IRA, INLA etc killed many innocent people in their campaigns. The Loyalist paramilitaries almost exclusively killed non combatants.
Had Sands been a Sandinista he would be in your sig right now so stop your bluster and righteous indignation.
