We didn't, and it wasn't a "coup". It was a popular uprising that evolved into a Civil War.

Was it so important to kill the tyrant?


To destroy the regime entirely.



Yes.

And if he was ready to step aside, why did the whole mess started anyway?


Because he tried to brutally suppress the uprising and showed no signs of "stepping aside". A former GOP Congressman speaking via World Net Daily doesn't convince me otherwise.

It's just another fact in the pile that makes me think: there's nothing about democracy, or justice, or whatever our government claims to bring to poor Middle Eastern countries. It's just resources and power, again and again.

Well, yeah.
