Off topic: sorry, can't insert links before I have 20 posts =( The news is from WND.

Was it so necessary to start a coup in Libya? Was it so important to kill the tyrant? And was he a tyrant? And if he was ready to step aside, why did the whole mess started anyway?
It's just another fact in the pile that makes me think: there's nothing about democracy, or justice, or whatever our government claims to bring to poor Middle Eastern countries. It's just resources and power, again and again.

We didn't, and it wasn't a "coup". It was a popular uprising that evolved into a Civil War.

Was it so important to kill the tyrant?

To destroy the regime entirely.

Yes.

And if he was ready to step aside, why did the whole mess started anyway?

Because he tried to brutally suppress the uprising and showed no signs of "stepping aside". A former GOP Congressman speaking via World Net Daily doesn't convince me otherwise.

Well, yeah.

Gadaffi was perfectly willing to sell the West oil. That was no ulterior motive.

Gaddafi was the innocent victim in all this, clearly. He never wanted to be dictator of Libya, all the people he killed was a mistake, he just wanted to hug puppies and stuff.

Who gives a sh[inks]? I'm sure the people he murdered wanted to "go peacefully" as well.

I don't know what it is with Republicans and their love of violent dictators. Reminds me of this infamous McCain tweet.

Never thought I'd see the name Curt Weldon again. WorldNutDaily commentator is a fitting job for him.

Qaddafi was a legitimate world leader (a bad one, but Congresspeople visited Putin, Castro, Chavez, and so on) so I don't see a problem. It's not like we were officially at war with him....

Indeed. He had plenty of time to stuff $10 million in a suitcase and fly to another country.

Weldon hadn't been in Congress for four years by that point though.

If Libya had happened under a Republican President's watch, WND would be celebrating him for avenging Lockerbie and completing Reagan's legacy.

Yes any Republican trying to whitewash the image of Gadhafi should be ashamed of themselves, you're the right wing versions of Snowstalker. He was one of the major supporters of anti-Western terrorism for decades, he has killed Americans and other Westerners, beside that both him and his family was also horrible in Libya. All the worst things we have said about Saddam could also be said about him. He deserved everything he got.

LOL Curt Weldon.

If Gaddafi wanted to go peacefully maybe he shouldn't have given an hour long speech in which he said he'd kill every single man, woman and child in Benghazi before stepping down.
