Turn is closed. Good God, I have a lot to go through.

And here I was thinking the situation couldn't get any more chaotic. You all never cease to amaze Wink

So, the event in Iceland was too interesting not to include. I had never heard of the Móðuharðindin before. Too bad that means everyone suffers Sad

Also, couldn't resist revealing the fate of Pompadour after her important role in the last game. Wink

I'll start working on the next turn in a bit, though it will be a while. Don't expect it until either Tomorrow or (worst case scenario) Tuesday. I've got lots to do Tongue

Southern India has been blockaded for almost a year I wonder how they are gonna deal with that

That's probably partially why Mysore renounced Portuguese overlordship. A six month blockade is bad, but the region blockaded is quite sizeable.

And thus eastern Europe is engulfed in fire.

I'm interested in what happens in Brazil mostly.

It will be interesting to see what happens there. It very well could be another playable nation or the center of a restored Braganzan Empire. Quite a variety of paths for it.

Next turn is open. Will close Monday July 2nd @ 7 pm.

I'm debating a new rule where anyone submitting military order should have them in 24 hours early, as I'm going to have to start doing a military update with each turn. This would prevent last minute changes like we've been having and allow for me to prepare one of what will be three parts between posts, but I'm not sure. We'll see how this turn goes first..

Let me know if you have any concerns. There are 16 of you after all, something may have been missed Wink

Let the killing resume Smiley

I’m waiting on a response to several PMs - I’ve been waiting the longest on a response from NPCs(Spamage) and Russia, so if you two could get me answers pretty soon I would appreciate it.

My apology, there was quite a backlog of PMs today I needed to respond to. Was involved in a local event and only just had time to respond.

I should be up to date on inquiries at the moment. Let me know if I've missed anyone else's questions.

Expect midturn updates tomorrow evening. Could be some interesting stuff Wink

Sorry for more PMs, Spamage. I didn't notice the dealine and didn't want to leave things unsaid.

No problem at all.

Everyone can feel free to keep up the PMs, the turn still has quite some time left Smiley

So now TN is playing the new portuguese king?

Only if the House of Braganza is restored during the course of the peace negotiations/Portugal returns to its independent status. Until the war is concluded he will largely have to follow what his host suggests, though he does still command his exiled army.

He won't be King until he's coronated Wink

Turn ends Monday evening.

Turn closes in about an hour and a half.

I’ve been involved in several rounds of negotiations that has seen the other side blacked out. If we could have like a 12 or 24 hour extension so these talks can be finished, it would be appreciated.

Normally I would, but even minor delays can have the tendency to invite further pusbacks. Tongue
Any negotiations can be continued in between turns and during the next one naturally.

Just a heads up and a general timeline for here on out.

So I've only just now finished calculating military results for the War of the Bavarian Succession, with the other major conflicts a work in progress (I hope to finish tonight). After that will come the news update (interesting stuff brewing as usual). Due to the intertwined nature of these two posts, I am going to hold off on publishing the results and the news stories until tomorrow evening when I can do so simultaneously.

I will be unavailable on Wednesday (the 4th) but will be back on Thursday. I hope to have the next turn up either late Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. I hope everyone is understanding of the delay, it's just due to the holiday in the midweek. Thanks for your understanding Smiley

Military and news posted. News update was a bit shorter than usual due to the level of attention required by the wars (also, I was nearing the character limit hence the stories sans images).

Remember, numerous stuff happened outside the news stuff for individual players, as will be adressed in the prompts for the next turn. With 15 (now 14) of you it can become a bit of a balancing act.

Portugal is no longer playable unless full independence is restored to Lisbon in one shape or another. Brazil will be playable at the start of the next turn.

HenryWallace is away this week Sad , but does intend to continue playing. If anyone is interested in substituting, I'm open to suggestions, though obviously a massive 180 in policy would not be allowed. I'm debating either operating Russia myself as one of the NPCs or, following existing precedent, having Dereich take over military commands for a turn as I did in one of Lumine's game when my ally was unavailable.

Whatever the case I look forward to getting on with the next turn. Let's hope you all leave some part of the world unravaged by war. I though Italy would be it, then...

Just, wow.

Sardinia-Piedmont is rising in an insanely quick fashion
Republic of Louisiana formed
The Bavarian succession war is overall a draw to this point

The event that intrigues me the most is the Congress of Annapolis, I wonder what will happen there Wink
I do have a question on the 15 colonies though. Which ones  are the two extra colonies? Florida and Kentucky/Tennessee?

The Thirteen Colonies (Vermony is still unorganized) plus Ohio and Kentucky-Tennessee (as Transylvania).

Florida is technically a colony, but is more akin to how Quebec was OTL. There is not really much of an English presence there yet, despite being owned by George III.

Hate to make excuses, but my internet has been meh today. There's a lot of PM requests from today and yesterday I intend to respond to, but not until after the next turn has been opened. I have most of the prompts written, just some last minute research that needs to be done.

Unfortunately it will have to be delayed an additional 24 hours, due to RL stuff. This is actually a good thing because that ensures the next one will end on Friday night and will give us several quick turnovers again (as when they end on weekends I have more time available to write events, prompts, etc. ). I know you all are eager to get back at backstabbing eachother, it will just be a little while more Wink

Certainly, though as someone noted, the available ones are not without a challenge.

Naples, Brazil or Louisiana are probably the main options. All are technically at war, all have different levels of foreign ties. Let me know and I'll be able to edit you into the update.

Boy did I fall into a rabbit hole yesterday. A quick attempt to mod some of the nations' colors in Victoria 2 resulted in more of an interest in modding overall (I've tried and failed for other games in the past). I wanted to see how much I could add to Vic2, and thus I needed to greatly change vanilla. Needless to say, before I knew it I had a full blown scenario. All 15 nations played currently (sans China) were the Great and Secondary powers without me having to edit too much.

Tbh, quite interesting. I'll have to keep working on this as a fun side project. Maybe I'll even release it someday. Wink I forgot how enjoyable Victoria 2 can be Tongue

That looks awesome, Spamage!

Any chance you changed the vanilla Vic2 map, and if so, could we see it?

I did Smiley

Map modding is reminding me how terrible the HRE borders are (work in progress, lol). Most of the player actions are included. The colonizers own the Americas, Prussia has South Africa, and France controls Northern India. It's actually rather interesting. I included a few years in, where Austria in this playthrough is getting slaughtered by Prussia-Ottomans, but I've seen the War of the Bavarian Succession go either way.

Persia and the Durrani generally seem to go to war as well.

For some bizarre reason the UK always releases New England. I added an event chain to mirror the collapse of the colonial empires so all immigration wouldn't be funneled into Quebec and Louisiana, though I've yet to seen the a.i beat the rebels (I failed as Spain). Tongue

Excellent work! Victoria is one of my favorite Paradox games, and if you ever release it officially I'd definitely be interested in playing. It is a shame to see Finland be occupied by the Russians though Tongue. I'd also recommend if you're interested in them, the Vic2 war analyzer, and the Vic2 economy analyzer, they provide some interesting info.

Funnily enough, Encore also inspired me to attempt to reach Scandinavia's rightful borders. Here's Europe about 11 years after the Great War (1915-1917), where 11 million died. It was coincidentally, Scandinavia, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Ottomans, and Nationalist China versus Russia, Austria-Hungary and France. Germany, my long time ally, was sadly dismantled in a separate war with France, which I took advantage of to unite Jutland.

What mod are you using? HPM, PDM, or something else?

Just to clear things up, the general policy I've employed in the past and will continue to use for this game is that players are only replaced upon the death of a monarch if:

a) There's a regency of an unrelated family member for an underage dynastic heir

b) There's no dynastic heir

c) The dynasty is forced out of power entirely (either replaced or overthrown)

d) A claimant within the dynasty seizes power from the existing ruler

e) They no longer wish to keep playing

For an elected ruler:

a) They are assassinated

b) They fail to be reelected (not really a problem with all of these long term limits Wink )

c) The government is overthrown

d) They no longer wish to keep playing

Even with this replacement, it's only a several day gap before they can be invited in any of these cases to reassume their country. We wouldn't want to leave powerful realms without players for too long.

There is general precedent for players continuing after the death of a monarch. Kal continued as the Ottomans in the last game following the assassination of Mustafa III, HenryWallace following the murder of Empress Elizabeth, Dkrol following the death of George II.

In this instance, as Charles IV is of age and still a direct heir of Charles III, Lousville will continue as Spain.

I hope this clears up any confusion. I recognize it's a departure from other games in the past, but it's what I've generally used in both this game and its predecessor.

Have sent parts of my orders (just so I had something done) but there's still more I want to post both orders wise, and publicly.

I feel guilty for asking, but I would appreciate an extension until Tomorrow so I can finish it all.

Severe device availability difficulties and resulting feuds with siblings.
I ask for a delay till midday tomorrow, please.

Considering there is a general concensus for the turn to be delayed (X has requested until tomorrow too), I will consent to extend the turn an additional 24 hours. Generally I'm hesitant to do so, but I'll make an exception in this circumstance.

Made a wikibox for the War of Bavarian Succession Smiley. I dread even thinking about making one for the War of the Grand Coalition.

This is amazing.

I would love to see one for the War of the Grand Coalitions.

Roughly 50 minutes remaining. Some players will have to get their orders in quick.

Then, the turn will be over. Not sure if I'll get the news out tonight (looking unlikely with all the orders I've recieved at the tail end of the turn).

This is going to be a long news update. Last time the length in MS word with the atlas formatting included was 6 pages. This time, with only 2 stories completely finished, I'm already at two and a half pages without Atlas formatting. It may be a while Wink

Unfortunately, with his murder, GoTfan has been knocked out as Venice for the time being. He can either rejoin as Venice at the start of 1787 (next turn is 1786) or pick some other realm. Sad

Meanwhile, I'm pleased to announce Not_Madigan will be joining the game once more, this time as Brazil. Welcome back! Smiley

Now, after all that typing, I'm going to take a nice break. I expect that 1786 will probably be the most pivotal year in the game so far Wink

There are times when you're sad that you're not included in the news update, and there are times when you're happy. I'm pretty happy right now.

Let's just say you're lucky you were on quietly working on clean-up duty in Iceland.

You narrowly avoided a far worse situation which would have put you in the update. Wink
