It would take a very bad Democrat or a Republican with massive crossover appeal, but there are very few states were the Governor's race is out of reach for the minority party.

Vermont, Maryland, and Massachusetts speak for themselves, but honestly so do Louisiana, Kentucky, and Kansas.

So Ciattarelli would be 63 in the next election year and the NJ GOP bench is fairly weak - after his massive overperformance, I think there's a good chance the nom is his if he wants it in 2025.

Smart. He has no chance of winning a Senate race, and he has an enormous amount of cash on hand for a guy in a newly Likely D district.

Being a moderate in a House seat makes you a pain in the ass to leadership. Being a moderate in the Governor's race makes you a problem solver. He'll have to get past Fulop and Oliver, but Fulop has his own liabilities and Oliver's kept a low profile. Endorsed.

MAGA State Senator Ed Durr defeated his UltraMAGA opponent as well.

In my district, our veteran establishment Dem State Senator got a very energetic primary challenge from a local progressive activist who basically blanketed the district with ads - and beat her by 70 points anyway. NJ politics remain incredibly machine-driven and stable as always.
