Likely the latter, just based on gender.

It depends heavily on the job, their company structure, etc.

The idea that there's an "employing class" is truly absurd. This employee could easily be a line cook working for a small business owner who is barely keeping the restaurant afloat. In that case, there's likely very little difference in "class" between them.
