CNN BELIEF BLOG PANIC: Religion to go "extinct" in 9 Western Countries

Anyway I LOL at the idea that ´religion´(whatever that is) will go extinct in Ireland any time in the near future and for that matter, I LOLed even further at the idea at the use of statistics to show long-term sociological trends - how stupid are people, exactly?

I do hope that none of the money used to fund that 'study' could have been used on more worthwhile projects...

Does attempting to replace proper academic analysis with inherently dubious mathematic models (insert rant about cliometrics here) count as superstition?

Anyway, most forms of associational life have been in decline in the 'West' for at least forty years; what's striking about the place of organised religion in that picture is the fact that it's place in it is so typical of the wider pattern. But we all knew that anyway.
