One aspect of these specials that hasn't been discussed at all: New York finally (mostly) got it together when it comes to counting votes!!!!

How many absentees are still out? I believe anything that arrived after last Friday still needs to be counted. Still much better. Now they need to improve their results website.

So if you tracking what is still out, especially when it comes to the current RCV election laws?

Do we have results yet broken down by SD's and HD's available in a query based format by precinct?

Generally in AK tend to follow the GE numbers, prior to this whole new RCV system, so bit like ME when they first adopted, really difficult to translate and much longer election returns to finalize results.

I have no idea what or how much is still out.

McClellan is doing far better than McEachin across the district. Almost 70% for McClellan.

Margin will probably shrink a little, ED vs Early votes etc, but looks like it will end up around the 22 margin.

I take that back, in the counties that are almost done counting McClellan is outpreforming McEachin.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/becky-edwards-greg-hughes-officially-235519741.html

Quote
Of the 22 candidates, 13 are Republican, three are Democrats, and six candidates are running with third parties or are unaffiliated.

The deadline for the parties to select a candidate via the convention process, or for candidates to submit the 7,000 needed signatures to qualify for the primary election, is July 5.....

...... While most candidates are seeking the nomination through both the convention process and signature gathering, Edwards has opted to forgo the former in favor of the latter to earn a spot on the ballot before the Sept. 5 special primary election.

Edwards up big early but Salt Lake county (80%) & Davis county (95%) are almost all in. Can she hold on when the rural counties come in?

I don't think Edwards is getting enough in Salt Lake County to win.

It's still a little early, but I'd expect a call for Maloy within the hour.
Yeah I also think the outstanding vote in Salt Lake/Davis are election-day, meaning that Edwards's margins in those counties will decrease.

I believe Utah is entirely vote by mail, I don't think there will be a huge difference between early votes and votes recieved today.

Pretty sure we will not have a winner tonight. It can take days for Utah to process the last mail in ballots.

Even in Salt Lake this is lackluster for dems. 66% vs McMullin getting 68%.

McMullen was pretty much the high water mark for Dems although technically he wasn't a Dem.  The margin will be somewhere between Trump's margin in 2020 (17?) and Stewart's in 2020 (26).

Looks like yet another Republican underperformance in a special election in the Biden era.

LOL at those proclaiming the opposite when no votes from SLC were even in yet.
Maloy is on track to outrun Trump though by a decent amount.

Great thing about these results are everybody can spin the results to their desire.

It never gets noticed because Utah is a one party state and elections are rarely close but they give Arizona and Nevada a run for their money for how long it takes to count all the votes. It honestly does not bother me, better right than fast, but when a toss up state has 30% of the ballots to count the morning after an election it is the end of the world according to some.
