It's not that "conservatives" (what are they conserving? neurons?) hate democracy simply because it's democracy. ('Democracy' is not yet a snarl word the way 'Communist' or 'Socialist' is, although it's getting there.) They hate 'democracy' (or any sort of representative government) that results in them not being able to abuse others; they want to be able to order things as they like, and they want to be free from any restrictions on how they may do so. (This, by the way, is what I think keeps the abusive business and abusive racist/religious wings on the party together - while the forms of abuse they want to inflict on others differ, they all agree they should be free to harm others and that others should not be allowed to restrict their ability to cause harm.) If they got the results they wanted from democratic government, they'd be fine with it. But the more that democracy "threatens" them with allowing change they don't like, or with consequences for their actions, the more they will oppose it.

There's a bit early on in Judge Wine-box's "interview" with Lara Trump that makes Trump supporters' position on democracy very clear.

Quote
"Governor Kemp owes his position to President Trump. It would be nice if he reciprocated."

If the liberals on this forum really believe Trump supporters hate democracy than they should give up on America since 47% of voters backed Trump, if 47% of American voters hate democracy than democracy in America is already dead, what is to stop an authoritarian Republican from winning in 2024 and ending democracy altogether if half the electorate already hates democracy, surely it is only a matter of time now.

In a country where 47% of voters hate democracy as many people on this forum seem to think, it is only a matter of time until democracy collapses, personally, America becoming a right wing dictatorship would have one immediate downside, this forum would not be that active as there would be no American elections left to discuss.

They do and it's a huge problem.  It is like peeling layers off an onion.  There are some that are redeemable and hold Democracy in higher stead than Trump, but the substantial core are truly irredeemable.

It is a huge problem, and I do not have any good or simple solutions. And doubtless the fascists would prefer it if their victims simply "gave up". (Fascists, like "conservatives", really hate it when the victims of their abuse fight back.) But "giving up" isn't a viable solution either - as WWII showed us, eventually fascists will always come for everyone else. Because they can't actually run a nation on their own, they need war and looting and foreign scapegoats for their own evil incompetence.

American fascism is undead  - a dead thing walking around and pretending its alive. Sooner or later its rotted husk will collapse. Whether that will be an internal as decay and daylight catch up to it,  or whether it will need to be put down like the monster it is, I don't know. But leaving it alone will never be a good response.
