I would have voted against it, but I would have also submitted a smaller bill for $200B directed solely at restructuring the "toxic" mortgages.  Target the actual problem, and the markets will respond accordingly.

I'd have voted against it and voted for your alternative!

If I was enough of a moral criminal to get elected to Congress, then I suspect that I'd cravenly vote in the general direction that the loudest of my constitutions indicated that they support. Unless I have a very, very safe seat. In which case, I'd play the greasy-pole game and try to earn brownie points from my party leadership.

And pork Smiley Coal dust is worth more than gold dust.
