They are letting F. Thompson speak in primetime. Wow.

His campaigning was weak (at best) but I think many find his unique accent quite entertaining.

I will say that the stage/screen looks pretty cool.

Blah. Way too bland.

Is anyone even at this convention? It seems so empty and boring. When there is applause, it sounds like maybe five people are clapping.

Hm, I was going to say that, but didn't want to sound like a hack.

Well, I can say it as a Republican.  Wink

I will always say that the Republicans aren't entertainment people. Our conventions seem to be bland most of the time (with 2004 as an exception). It bothers me sometimes but, in the end, we know that the entertainment isn't what this process should be about.

It's hard to for me to see how that speech would hurt McCain.

The point was just seeing Bush in primetime hurts. It looks like the big three didn't cover it so it won't be a big deal.

Eh...it looks like they're replaying it on ABC.

Fred is doing pretty well. He's bringing up the Palin attacks.

Yelling into a mic, an exciting speech does not make.

He's firing up the crowd, pal. It's not boring.

This party still seems lame compared to the Democrats.

Welcome to something everyone has said for years now.  Wink

Why is Thompson talking about how McCain was a bad student and a trouble-maker and a stripper-er?

It was a weird set up for his Vietnam days.

I never thought Thompson was such a good storyteller and so engaging. I guess the debates and stump speeches weren't the type of format where he does best.

He's a great narrator. He did the voiceover for the Bush introduction video at the 2004 convention.

"POW doesn't qualify you to be President, but it shows character."  Fred says "My friends," the new GOP catchphrase.  He's been to Iraq 8 times.  Unintimidated by polls.  Iraq went badly, people lost confidence, John McCain called for more troops.

Are you done yet?

Nevermind. I switched over to ABC. They are on a delay. I was going nuts, thinking that Fred totally lost it.

The crowd doesn't seem to care too much for Lieberman.

He didn't get much of a response when he came out but the applause throughout the speech hasn't been that bad.

How many heads are exploding everytime Lieberman says that he's a Democrat?

I love it.

I liked the end, addressing Democrats and Independents directly.

The problem with Joe is obviously delivery. I almost had to mute it. Along with that whine, his general boring nature is horrible.
