Turn on CNN. They will be covering his speech and we'll find out what's going on. Its a safe bet to say he's resigning but what reason will HE give?

Because of his gay lover filling a suit against him.

I think it has to do with the corruption scandals that have plagued his administration for quite some time.

I really did think this had to do with the corruption scandal. I can't believe this.

There will be NO special election. Codey will be Governor until the term ends in 2006.

It also seems like there would be time for McGreevey to retract his resignation if the voter rush to his defense.

That won't happen. McGreevey is very unpopular.

The people of NJ have got to stop voting for pieces of sh!t and they have to demand a special election and Jim's immediate resignation. That state needs an enema.

Why should they demand an immediate resignation?
McGreevey didn't have to resign...he didn't break any laws.

Many believe he is a total failure as Governor and it has nothing to do with this gay affair.

OK...but that isn't any reason to resign.

I should have been more specific. There have been a few scandals that have involved members of his administration.

What he did today did take a lot of courage. But his affair, the scandals within his adminstration, the corruption and his failure as a Governor deserve no admiration. Someone suggested earlier that the voters might rush to McGreevey's defense. They might defend the way he addressed this issue today but will the majority of people in NJ defend his job as Governor? Don't count on it.

Yep, he was busted, what else could he have done

I did not have sexual relations with that man......

Well, if you define sex in way similar to the way social conservatives want to define marriage, well then he couldn't have had sexual relations with any man.  Smiley

Or if you define "sexual relations" the way Bill Clinton defines it...

Hey Beef I noticed the sign in your signature. Why are you supporting Michels? Why not Welch or Darrow?

Russ Darrow is leading the money race (thanks to the fact that he owns half the car dealerships in Wisconsin), but he just doesn't do anything for me, and I think he has the worst chance of beating Feingold.  Next is Tim Michaels, who I have to say is very likable and charismatic.  A former Army Ranger who retired as a Major.  I like Lorge a lot (he impressed me in a public radio interview) but he's way behind in the money.  I have also heard Welch has the best chance of defeating Feingold, but I'm not sure.  More research is needed.  I just happen to really like Michaels.

I will support any of the Republican nominees against Feingold.

I like Darrow and Welch. Both seem like great candidates. Welch does have the best chance against Feingold, followed by Darrow. Michels chances in the primary aren't very good and he won't have enough name ID if he got to the general election. My adivce: If you won't vote for Darrow, look at Welch.

As expected, the NJ GOP leaders call for McGreevey's immediate resignation.

Former Governor Don DiFrancesco (who took over when Christine Todd Whitman left to serve as the head of the EPA) is considering a run for Governor.
