I know it's from NewsMax but the best of news is sometimes delivered by the worst of sources - http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/Christie-president-Romney-Perry/2011/09/23/id/412133

Yes Nik, I think Christie does have a chance to win the gold unlike Perry, which I suggested. But unlike Perry, he won't be like a wounded deer for Obama to hunt down and just casually put out of his misery, without breaking a sweat. So it's all good. Whichever of the two wins, should be fit and very competitive with Obama - hopefully.

Ah ok. Smiley I merely meant to say Christie is not cannon fodder (though no cannon could probably fit him).

Indeed. He should shed some of the flab. It will become an issue in the campaign. Mark my words. It's a health issue. He will need to release a medical exam report I suspect. What's his blood pressure and glucose count? I am not trying to be snarky here. It's out there.

He got elected in one of the thinnest states in the nation. Sure, his weight would be the subject of countless jokes but, as the New Jersey electorate has proven, it isn't half as important as people make it out to be.

The health of a governor is a far different matter than the health of a POTUS.

The Governor of New Jersey is the most powerful Governor in the nation so if you want to argue that health matters (and I agree that it does), you can't just dismiss it because he's "only" the Governor

I agree that he should shed some weight but it clearly isn't a big issue to the voters.

Yeah, that one was really me and I'm proud of that.

I'll give Blubb credit for the "He's running, folks" line.

Hunstman said in interview that he planned to "place" in NH, take second in SC and bring it home in FL.

?

Rudy didn't seek to "place" in New Hampshire and certainly didn't expect to take second in South Carolina.

Rumor going around that Christie will announce Petraeus is running.

Yay Smiley Petraeus is a much more interesting candidate than the boring New Jersey bully.

Petraeus more interesting than Christie? What?

I'm watching his keynote at the Reagan Library. How the hell is this not a campaign speech?

He just came out against in state tuition for illegals and didn't give a totally straight answer about running. Wink

Flat out said No at the Reagan library

No, he didn't. If he wanted to say "no," he would have said, "I'm not running." He said "Go to Politico. They have the answer." That's a way around giving a flat out "no."

The woman that gave that heart felt speech (no, not the one that said, "I have an Italian mother who said you have to run.") was the best and I think Christie's response was open ended. He said he has to feel it within him before he can run and didn't explicitly say that he doesn't feel it right now.

In other news, how good was Christie's speech by the way?  Did he set the house on fire, or put them to sleep, or something in-between?

He did well. He had them really fired up during the Q&A though.

Apparently, I'm not the only one that thought that his comments were very open ended - http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0911/64589.html

The Reagan Library event was apparently "mind blowing" for Christie. A decision could come next week, as early as Monday - http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/christie_feels_the_urge_QYtocnZuH6ArN54eGisgyL

Also important to note: his wife is said to have warmed to the idea thanks to a phone call from Barbara Bush.

Christie only trails Obama by one point nationwide: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/2012_presidential_matchups

Well, he should lose some weight to look presidential.

How dare you speak ill of The Messiah.

But he looks like Tony Soprano.

Looks like Peeperkorn just gave you a reason to support him, "Dale."

George Pataki is very publicly pining for Christie, according to PolitickerNY:

“America is in a crisis, and none of the current candidates or the President has leveled with American public about what needs to be done to rescue our future,” Pataki said in a statement. “This country needs a straight shooter and a proven leader. I urge Governor Chris Christie to run for President to fill the void and lead America forward.”

The Pataki machine will obviously carry Christie (HAHA HE'S FAT, REMEMBER?) to victory.
