I support capitalism. I also support socialism.
How does that work?
There's no such thing as a pure socialist state or a pure capitalist state. Everything is a blend to some extent.
Socialism isn't about government-run services (healthcare, education, transportation, etc), as many American liberals who call themselves "socialists" seem to believe. Socialism refers to the means of production being publicly owned.
The government represents and is an extension of the public. At least in an ideal sense.
The public? What an absurd notion. The government represents and is an extension of
a portion of the public, but to say that it represents all of us is nonsense. When was the last time a truck driver got elected to Congress, for instance? Or how about the last time someone without a high school education got elected President? Government certainly represents
some people, but it in no way represents
the vast majority of Americans, who are of course, working class people.
