In order for this to happen in the first place Donald Trump would have needed to create a very different persona than the one he has now, starting back in 2009. No involvement in birtherism, support for gun control and universal health care as a main issues instead of immigration restrictions etc.
If he had done this, Bernie might just as well have become his VP.
Totally agree, up until Bernie Sanders. If we're gonna parallel 2016, Trump will pick someone who
1. Has strong executive credibility and experience
2. Is willing to toe the line and defend Trump
3. Has political ambitions of his own
4. Has strong progressive credentials
There's no one who really fits the bill. Andrew Cuomo would have been a good choice if Trump weren't from New York.
