I think it's a poor reflection on our populace that people need more incentive to get vaccinated. Apparently the health of themselves and society isn't enticing enough. But whatever, I get why these deal-sweeteners (sometimes literally) are being done. As long as it helps us reach herd immunity at all I can get past it.

The stimulus bills cost trillions of dollars, so a $100 incentive to get the vaccine isn't that much.

There's too many instances of 'health' officials being put there as favors with little to no health background for me to trust this decision. This is not a situation where we need even more red tape.

Omicron is now 99.5% of USA cases and there were 2300 deaths today. Are we still going with this is almost all Delta, and the super mild Omicron is causing negligible deaths?

Why does it seem like we have to rely on right-wing Republicans to save us from draconian COVID measures?

Because they're going to do literally the opposite of whatever the Dems are doing, purely for the sake of it. If Democrats started opening back up and saying the pandemic is over, wait a few months and you'd start seeing Republicans attacking that and wanting restrictions.
