There are several congresspeople that I think would be ample (or even arguably superior) replacements for Pelosi: Cedric Richmond and Ben Ray Lujan would be strong options, for instance. But Tim Ryan is sure as hell not one of those congresspeople, and it's tragic to see so many progressives ally themselves with Ryan (who is ultimately more conservative than Pelosi) just because of their anti-establishment vendettas.

At the end of the day, though, I do think that the next two years will require a Democratic leader who is deeply experienced, and obviously no one fits that bill better than Pelosi. I guess I don't see why everyone is so certain that she will spinelessly settle for excessive compromise with Republicans.

Progressives have been promoting Barbara Lee.

I think Tim Ryan and Seth are going to fail but I admire and appreciate the effort. We need to go back to the center.

Yes, the Democratic party should go back to the center from the center-right.

Ahem.

People seem to have forgotten that Pelosi was a member of the CPC before becoming leader. She only left because she refuses to join an ideological caucus as leader of the entire party.

Wow, 16 years ago Pelosi passed as a progressive. Progressive in 2002 just meant you were against deregulating everything in sight and invading every country at once.

Barbara Lee better be the next speaker or DNC chair or something.

The military industrial complex has too much power for that to happen.

I'm not surprised. Crying sexism whenever a female ally is criticized is a key part of the Moulton playbook. Exploiting misogyny isn't beneath them. Just look at how his project candidate wound up saying the opposition to her carpetbagging was because she was a woman.

You know, just like how the sexist voters of New Hampshire elected Jim Shaheen over Sandra Brown because they couldn't tolerate a strong woman challenger with Senatorial experience.

The Democratic party is all about hiding your ideas behind some woman or minority so that you can cry sexism or racism if someone criticizes them.
