I mean, what commonalities are we looking at here? He's not very likely to have the same social outlook, or be of a similar background, or have similar views to his black female coworker, but in terms of how they actually stand in the world economically and possibly socially, they could be similar. Voted option 2 because I'm taking this from a "sharing similar views/outlooks" area.
