Because when we have these binary FF/HP polls (or variations thereof), it is either/or.  I see no reason to make this an exception.

So choose.

Uh yeah, I've been on this forum before. The "dichotomy" only exists because of a phrase that admits the subjectivity of the categorization.

I choose both.

Okay, to be serious for a second instead of knee-jerky, if I'd been around in the time of Mr. John Brown, I might've felt a pang of sympathy for his motivations, but, like with most activists today, I would regard him as a threat to my way of life (assuming he wasn't amusing). Obviously he was a terrorist, and I find most activists annoying. Nevertheless, from a moral perspective, he obviously strove for good things, and he likely caused unnecessary bloodshed. Nevertheless, slavery was an obvious oppressive evil that deserved whatever violence it wrought.
