Four years have passed since the election of Martin Van Buren. Tariffs have been lowered, the National Bank has been replaced by an Independent Treasury system, and Van Buren has resisted calls by many to annex Texas, much to the chagrin of pro-slavery Democrats. Running against their own incumbent President are expansionist Lewis Cass and moderate James Buchanan. Some, fearing deadlock at the convention, are considering the nomination of Governor and former Speaker of the House James K. Polk, another Jackson protege. Which will you choose?

Will there be anything for the N-Rs or Liberty Party?

Both guys (Clay & Birney) were nominated unanimously.
