OOC: when NHI releases his "who won the debate" poll, you'll have IN and NC, then WV and then KY and OR. May 12th-25th can start now, so post your schedules Wink

May 12th- May 25th starts now (well, it started some posts ago)

McCain and democrats losing support to Bloomberg, republicans nervous, will McCain be able to keep his lead once democrats have a candidate?
Obama and Dean tied in Indiana, Dean and Lincoln tied in NC, Dean takes WV. Oprah and Lincoln decline in polls.
Brokered Convention? Not so fast, unpledged delegates divided between Obama, Dean, want a new debate to know who's the best candidate.
Who'll finish in 2nd place? Winfrey or Obama? Oprah has lost momentum, but is it too late for Barack?
Morgan Freeman and Samuel Jackson endorse Obama; Walter Mondale and Jerry Brown endorse Dean.
Treasurer Tim Cahill (D-MA), Auditors of Accounts Randy Brock (R-VT) and Thomas Salmon (D-VT) and model Cindy Crawford endorse Michael Bloomberg.

So, let's suppose Lincoln dropped out the 18th of May (her last activity was the 17th). That means everything changes in Kentucky. Don't expect every delegate to go for Obama, but certainly a huge majority.
Dean, Oprah and Obama, unpledged delegates want a debate among you to decide whom to support. Do you accept?

Results from KY and OR tonight tomorrow morning. Expect some bump for Obama (not too much, people expected this).

Nader debate proposal is interesting. What do you (democrats and McCain) think?
The problem I see is that Dean, Obama and Oprah will have to debate soon. And too many debates is not realistic, and not with 3 democrats vs. 2 independents vs. 1 republican. But if you all like the idea, why not in June-July?

To June 8th (PR primary day)

Debate tommorow!
Puerto Rico closer than expected, people seem to have liked to hear Dean talking about statehood and Acevedo supporting him.
Obama still leading in MT and SD.
When democrats have a candidate, the race will be closer.
"Drop out NOW, you're doing no favor to the Democratic party" - Hillary Clinton to Oprah.
12 delegates abandon Dean, go un-pledged after Matherson announcement.
Bloomberg increases his share this week again, McCain lead shrunks a bit.
Lincoln would make a good VP candidate for Dean and Obama, helping with women and republicans. People like Obama/Dean or Dean/Obama, too.
Mike Castle: "this is not easy to say, keep in mind that I'm a republican and I like Johnny a lot, but I may vote for Michael Bloomberg in November. He may be what we need, and, more important, he can kill this stupid 'blue state' 'red state' nonsense. We need moderation in Washington, we need Americans, not political parties, running our country. My mate, Jim Matherson, had the courage to endorse Bloomberg. I think he needs a republican representative on his side, too haha".
Mayors Stephen R. Reed of Harrisburg (D-PA) and Christopher Cabaldon of West Sacramento (D-CA) endorse Michael Bloomberg.

OOC: I did the math; I have 39.95% of delegates now. I need 1,956 to win.

(post reserved for schedule).

No, sorry, I forgot to update the total number of delegates, which is a bit more. I'll fix it now.

Puerto Rico closer than expected, people seem to have liked to hear Dean talking about statehood and Acevedo supporting him.
5/26/2008
-Flight to Puerto Rico
-Rally in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico
Para ser honesto, creo que Puerto Rico merece la condición de Estado!"- Sen. Obama
Translation: "To be honest, I think Puerto Rico deserves statehood!"

Dean was talking about leting Puertoriqueños decide. I think it's clear that a majority of them want to decide if they want to be a state or not, but not a majority of them want to be a state (same thing happens in Catalunya). I was thinking about a 32-23 or 30-25 win, that detail may have tipped the scales toward him. As I had said, it was going to be a very difficult decision, both posts were perfect.

OCC: After seeing Hagel endorsing Dean, I want to endorse Obama or Bloomberg as Gingrich just for the comedy it would create... But sadly, it's unrealistic to the extreme.
That'd be great

Democrats have some respect for Hagel but I don't think Gingrich endorsement would help the "progressive choice", Barack Obama, do you?

After MT and SD (tomorrow that means) we can go to the Convention, yes.
[/b][/u]

46% of un-pledged delegates endorse Dean, 38% Obama, 1% Oprah. 15% remain undecided after debate.

"I thought this debate would make things easier, that a clear winner would emerge, but it hasn't happened. That proves we have two great candidates. Both of them have an extraordinary ability to campaign and debate. I can't choose between them. Brokered convention, there we go" - random un-pledged Delegate.

"Oprah will decide our nominee"

"Dean is almost there, Obama should endorse him".

"Dean/Obama or Obama/Dean, that's clearly what people want".

"Maybe we need another debate after Oprah drops out if she doesn't endorse anyone, haha".

Ok, how much does a Brokered Convention hurt the party in the election?

It could hurt, but it could also help! An interesting Convention who everybody will watch with a happy ending, imagine that! But it could be a mess (it'll start being a mess, sure) and give other candidates a big bump in polls. But keep in mind that the one who's leading in polls doesn't enjoy campaigning (for the moment).

August 22th to 28th -  Democratic National Convention: 25th-28th

BROKERED CONVENTION!
After remarks about supporting 3rd party candidates, 51 Oprah Delegates endorse Obama, 43 Dean, 54 un-pledged. remain loyal to her, for the moment.
SD way closer than expected after Hagel endorement and Oprah meltdown after comments. Obama wins both states, as expected.
John McCain wants to make sure the Rust Belt votes for him, but people feel his campaign has been very poor. Too old, maybe?
Michael Bloomberg gets first endorsement from current Governor: Dave Freudenthal (D-WY). "Democrats will nominate a progressive no matter what. And, as a democrat, I can't support my good friend John McCain. I'll do everything I can in order to prevent Republicans from winning this beautiful state again, and if that means endorsing Mr. Bloomberg, I'll do it. 50% of Wyomingites voted for me in 2002, and 70% in 2006. I believe Michael Bloomberg can carry my state with the same coalition that elected me. So, Michael, you can count on me".
Susan Sarandon, Rocky Anderson and Noam Chomsky endorse Ralph Nader!

Can I make apost like Bloomberg? If so.... I'd like to ask Julio some more time to make this schedule... Anyway, why such a big jump?

Of course you can!
I'll be very very busy (studying) for the next two weeks, but I think I'll have some time for this. Tomorrow you will have the democratic nominee, but before that, I'd like to know who will play Patty Murray and who will be Obama running mate (it's obvious it'll be Jerry if the choice is Lincoln or Alfred if it's Feingold.. but what if it isn't?).

You get the Green party endorsement.

"RNC starts this week. McCain has a big opportunity to retake his large lead. He just needs a good VP and more campaigning. We can't lose this election" - Newt Gingrich

"Oh, Bloomberg, what a great choice! Evan Bayh was a great Governor, he's been a great Senator, and the best colleague I could hope for. Moderation to the White House! You have my vote, Michael. I'm sorry Johny, you are not the problem, but I'm doubtful about you being the solution". "BTW, here you have the third independent senator hahaha..." - Senator Dick Lugar (I-IN)

"It's official now. I'm supporting Bloomberg" - Mayor Michael Nutter (D-PA)

"If you are a republican and feel ashamed after 8 years of Bush -and I'm sorry about that-, you have to vote for Mayor Bloomberg in November" - Colin Powell (R-NY)

"I've heard that Howard Dean loves guns. I was going to vote for Michael Bloomberg anyway, but now he gets my official endorsement. Thank you Michael, if you weren't running, I'd have to stay at home on Election Day or vote for someone I don't like" - Mayor Gavin Newsom (D-CA)

"Absurd, this is absurd. Michael Bloomberg is not a progressive, he's not a new face, he's not a good mayor. Democrats who support him are DINOs, they should not call themselves democrats. Shame on you, Oprah, Newsom, Nutter, and specially you, Bayh" - Former President Bill Clinton.

September 8th - September 15th starts now.

RNC results:
John McCain 1772 (81.17%)
Chuck Hagel 159 (7.28%)
Ron Paul 107 (4.9%)
Michael Bloomberg 106 (4.86%)
Newt Gingrich 39 (1.79%)

After Conventions, undecideds start deciding!!

Ralph Nader reaches 4%. Musician Eddie Vedder and actor Viggo Mortensen endorse him.

An internal from the democratic party has Bloomberg leading in Indiana, Dean leading in Iowa and Colorado tied!

Dean appeals to the progressive base while McCain finally stops bleeding after VP pick. Is that because he got all the press this week or will he keep his lead?.

(Believe me when I say I've worked a lot with this TL today, I have "internals" for every state, I've made a list with every state and how many times each of you have visited it ... That'll be very important on Election Night...)

(Oh, and use your VPs!)

(And finally, I suppose we'll have debates soon. NHI will moderate at least one of them, but does anyone else want to moderate? Thanks!)
