In 1980 Reagan had tyhe choices of:

Gerald Ford (his first choice, but refuesed a "co-Presidency")

George H. W. Bush (Best choice by far)

Bob Dole (only to help in the Midwest)

Jack Kemp (Not a bad choice)

William Roth (Liberal Jewish Republican from Deleware)

William Roth (Liberal Jewish Republican from Deleware)

Any relation to Jewish author Philip Roth?

Bush was the best choice, considering Dole had been the VP nominee in '76, and hadn't done much for Ford.

Actually Dole really helped Ford.  He probably held Kansas, North Dakota, and South Dakota for Ford.

Didn't he say something stupid in the VP Debate though, like blaming Democrats for soldiers killed in WWII or something.

He blamed the Democrats for every war in the 20th Century.
